Business Group Releases Handbook For Dealing With Opioid Crisis

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The problem with opioid addiction that's gripping Ohio has prompted the statewide Chamber of Commerce to come up with a guide for employers to help their people deal with the crisis.

An online video and some other materials have been assembled by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. The business group says they worked with a major insurance company to group together tips for navigating through the employee assistance process. Attorney General Mike DeWine is behind it, and delivered remarks at the blueprint's unveiling.

"One of the points is it could be in the company's best interests to try to figure out how to help that person help themselves so they can go back to work," DeWine said.

The guide shows employers how to drug test properly, setting up employee assistance programs, and creating second chance agreements.
