UT, Highway Patrol Seek Joint Police Station

(Toledo, OH) There could be a new state highway patrol post near the University of Toledo.

The highway patrol and UT police want to build a shared substation near campus, at the corner of Dorr Street and Secor Road. UT already has requested one million dollars from state lawmakers to put toward construction of the shared building on what is now a vacant lot.

The highway patrol is seeking to build a new post to replace its aging facility on Airport Highway near Swanton, which would put troopers closer to most of its interstate patrol routes.

A Toledo city councilman is hosting a neighborhood meeting tonight so residents can give input on the proposal. That public meeting starts at 6 tonight at the Gesu (jay-ZOO) Sullivan Center on Parkside Boulevard.
