Polish Village Paczki Sale Underway

(Toledo, OH)   Toledoans are fueling up for the Lenten fast in the Polish Village.

More than 1,800 dozen fruit- and custard-filled paczkis will be sold today and tomorrow at the Zablocki Senior Center on Lagrange Street.  The One Village Council has been selling the delectable doughballs for nearly 30 years to keep the Polish tradition alive and raise funds for neighborhood improvements.

If you can't make it to that sale, there are plenty of local grocery stores stocking the traditional Polish pastries closer to your neighborhood.

Fat Tuesday is tomorrow-- always falling the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The start of Lent also happens to be Valentine's Day.
