Names Begin Surfacing for Open State Senate Seat

(Findlay, OH) The former principal of Findlay High School is among those who want to fill the seat recently vacated by Republican state senator Cliff Hite.

Craig Kupferberg wants to challenge what he calls the Ohio General Assembly's "double standards," claiming the conservative business principles of local control and deregulation don't seem to apply to local schools or local governments. The retired educator also plans to run next year.

Defiance Republican state rep Craig Reidel also is seeking the vacant senate seat, left open by a sexual harassment scandal involving a state employee.

The GOP legislative caucus has set a deadline of next Monday for interested applicants.
