(Holland, OH) An investigation is underway into an apparently racial incident at Springfield High School.
School officials say several students were seen on social media this week, waving a Confederate flag and using racial slurs on school grounds. The students are reportedly members of a Christian youth group that was staging a country music party for local kids.
District officials say students involved in the rally will be punished and education efforts are planned to make students more culturally sensitive.
But a youth leader for Young Life and parents say a meeting that night at the high school had a country theme and some of the students used the Confederate flag as a prop to match their attire and may not understand what that flag has come to represent.
