(Toledo, OH) Lucas County Commissioners are relaunching their search for a new county jail site.
The commissioners scrapped plans Wednesday to build the jail on 30 acres of land along Angola Road in Toledo. People living near the site had argued against the plan out of concerns about safety. In a live Facebook post, a member of Lucas County Citizens Against The Neighborhood Jail Proposal vowed to continue to battle any attempts to build a county lock-up near schools and homes.
A tax levy on the November ballot would raise funds to build the new jail.
