Springfield Township Votes Down New TARTA Tax

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Springfield Township trustees have rejected a proposal for a new TARTA tax.

WTOL 11 reports trustees voted unanimously against the proposal that would phase out the current property tax levy in favor of a higher sales tax. If approved the sales tax in Lucas County would jump from 7.25% to 7.75%. Trustees instead passed a resolution calling for opposition to the county-wide sales tax hike.

In order for the proposal to go before voters in November, a majority of the communities with TARTA service would have to approve of it.
