Ohio Turnpike Construction Underway

(Toledo, OH) The orange barrels are now out along the Ohio Turnpike.

Turnpike officials say drivers won't see as many delays this construction season, with 25 percent fewer lane miles under construction as compared to last year. But more than $120 million will be spent to upgrade the toll road, including work reducing travel to slower speeds and one lane as six miles are resurfaced in Sandusky County, beginning Wednesday.

Work also starts this week on three bridge deck replacements in Erie County. Pavement will be replaced along a five-mile stretch in Erie County near a Cedar Point exit, that project to begin just before Memorial Day. Five miles also will be rebuilt near I-280 in Wood Coiunty, starting in July.

Drivers also will see bridge repainting projects in three Northwest Ohio counties.
