Water Plant Malfunction Prompts Boil Alert

(Toledo, OH) More than 2,000 Toledo water system customers are boiling their water after a pumping station malfunction.

City officials say an electrical problem caused water pressure at the Collins Park plant to drop, then spike, raising the risk of contamination in pipes serving south Toledo.

Customers are asked to boil their water for one minute before using it for drinking. Schools in the affected area will be open with supplies of bottled water for students. The advisory runs through 5 p.m. Friday.
