Bill Banning Discrimination Against LGBT Community Proposed

COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio lawmaker tries again at a bill to ban discrimination in housing and employment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in Ohio.

Banning discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodation based on sexual orientation or gender identity is the point of State Representative Nickie Antonio's legislation.

"For the estimated 300,000 LGBT Ohioans, fairness is long overdue," Antonio said on floor of the Statehouse.

Antonio says over 60 top companies in Ohio already have policies banning discrimination for LGBT people. Similar legislation has been introduced in the Ohio legislature over the years since 2009.
