Man Accused Of Strangling Wife, Fleeing To Canada Pleads Guilty

TOLEDO, Ohio - A Toledo man who fled to Canada after strangling his wife to death was back in a Lucas County courtroom Thursday.

WTOL 11 reports 33-year-old Kyle Sheppard plead guilty to the 2012 murder of his wife Katie. Sheppard fled to Canada, sparking a three-year extradition battle with the Canadian government. He was finally extradited back to the US last August, spending time in jail in Quebec before being sent back to Toledo.

Sheppard was sentenced to 15 years-to-life in prison. He will be eligible for parole after 15 years.
