STOP GERRYMANDERING: A COMMUNITY FORUM ON DRAWING FAIR DISTRICTS

The topic of gerrymandering is one that has been garnering attention in the recent months since the 2016 election. The practice of gerrymandering has had an enormous impact on how our legislature, and consequently, our Nation’s laws have been shaped.  Gerrymandering is one of the "biggest obstacles facing genuine democracy in the U.S." (Washington Post article, Feb 10, 2017)

Local grassroots activist group Fired Up! Ready to Go!, in its continued effort to educate, empower and engage local citizens,  will hold a  public educational forum on how our congressional districts are determined.  A panel of elected officials, from both major parties, has been invited to participate, with State Representative Teresa Fedor (45th District) scheduled to attend.

In addition to the panel, Melissa K. Miller, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Political Science at BGSU, will serve as a guest speaker.

No cost to attend. Light refreshments provided.
