Tony Packo's and have partnered to bring three one-of-a-kind art bikes to the city for several community events starting Thursday, May 18, into early June – including the Art Loop this week.  These fantastical, functional, pedal-powered beasts were recently commissioned and built to support 826michigan, a free afterschool writing and tutoring program serving Detroit, Ann Arbor, and area.  Dave Eggers, an artist, writer, and founder of 826 National and Juan Martinez, a Detroit metal artist collaborated to create “The Spirit Of The Animals is in the Wheels” – sculptural aluminum bikes in the form of a pangolin, a bison, and a bear.  Look for them downtown and around Tony Packo's at the Park over the next few weeks.

You can also see the art bikes on Saturday 5/20 at The Farmer's Market, Saturday 6/3 in The King Wamba Parade during Old West End Festival, and more places around town.

"Be inspired by the creativity involved with these bikes. People love to see something they have never seen before, and these bike beasts will definitely provide for a fun, memorable encounter and a unique experience in our community." -- Click here for more information.
